I need more energy for jogging...help!

I've been getting into jogging lately. I've noticed that if I wait until the evening (after a long day of work) then I seem to be completely out of energy. Is there something I could eat or drink during the afternoon to give me some extra energy for my runs?

  • Are you eating enough quality food during the day? 
  • I know at my old job I worked a variety of hours so sometimes I could run my usual morning schedule then there were other times when I had to run in the evening after working all day. When I had to run at night I was sure to eat a good carb for lunch (whole wheat sandwich and apple with some pretzels) and then have a handful of protein (almonds) about an hour before my run. These foods gave me the energy to get my run done and still feel satisfied with my food intake during my work day. Good luck!!

  • Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely focus more on what foods I eat throughout the day. 

    I run in the mornings when I can, but sometimes it doesn't fit my schedule so I'm left with the evenings after work.
