What USA beach in early September?

We have some plane tickets we need to use and I am thinking of planning something for early September.  Has anyone beach vacationed during that time?  Somewhere family friendly.  I was thinking about Miami but I don't know if that is hurricane season and/or to hot still?

the atlantic hurricane season (caribbean/east US) goes until nov 30. but not going would totally take out all of the gulf and the entire us eastern seaboard. the hamptons, eastern long island (montauk etc..) are great at that time, (i'm at our beaches until late sept,) so is nantucket, martha's vineyard. but i dont know what you want to spend or how far you want to go or anyhting else youre looking for.

Thank you for the info.  I am still thinking Miami but do you think it is too hot in early september?

i think 'too hot' is a relative term. it's still hot and humid here too but that's to be expected that time of year no?

Since you're considering FL, I recommend Captiva Island (you would fly into Ft. Myers).  We're about to go on our 3rd trip there.  We stay at South Seas Resort.  It's a Parents magazine recommended family-friendly beach resort.  We haven't been in Sept, but in October and November so far and it was about 80-85 degrees and perfect both times.

I am typically in Martha's Vineyard through all of August until early September. The weather was superb at this time and most people leave at the end of August to get their kids back to school, so the island is very peaceful. I had great fun there.You should take a look at the Mass Vacation website to help you plan your trip.
