Sports Drinks/Supplements

I've been having trouble finding the perfect sports drink or supplement to sip on during my workouts that will give me energy and keep me hydrated without all of the sugar that most of todays sports drinks have.  Any suggestions out there?

Re: Sports Drinks/Supplements

  • I usually stick to water too. If I'm feeling lathargic/doing a longer workout I might have a G2 (gatoraid) to get my sugars and electrolites up, but usually thats unneccissary. I do usually eat something (fruit or protien) 15-30 minutes before I work out though to give me the evergy to get though it.

  • I always just drink A LOT of water when I workout. It really just depends on how much you sweat during a workout. Usually exercise over 1.5 hours starts to deplete the body of "fuel" and electrolytes. Gatorade has those zero calorie versions of their sports drink which might be something to try but I have never noticed them helping with any sort of energy boost. Instead, I would try a small snack before working out that contains protein and fiber or even a shot of espresso!
  • I just drink water with some lemon juice in it

You really don't need anything other than water, unless you are working out intensely for more than an hour.
  • My trainer recommends nothing more than a half apple (and water, of course) to boost energy during or before workouts.
  • Sports drink are not more good for the health.
These drinks are not good sources of the real energy.
Sometime these drinks are chemical based that affect the health very badly.
Take natural fruits juices or shakes to get real energy.
  • I love drinking an AdvoCare Spark and Rehydrate. The Spark helps with mental focus and clean energy and the Rehydrate is such a wonderful way to keep the electrolytes up and just feel well hydrated before, during or after workouts! They taste super yummy alone or mixed together! If you would be interested let me know:)
