Has anyone been there yet this year and done the lazy river? It says life jackets are available for the kids. Are they available for free at the entrance to the ride? Or is it something you have to rent/pay for?
Re: Speaking of Idlewild...
i haven't been this year, but in past years they had life jackets available free for swimming in the pool, so I'm thinking they'd be free for this as well.
We were there yesterday too! Storybook Forest and Raccoon Lagoon were pretty manageable, but the water area was packed. We didn't stay at the water stuff very long.
I don't blame you. We didn't do it last year because we also went to Sesame Place and did water stuff there. Honestly, I don't think we'll be doing the water stuff next year. It's such a time suck when you have to get little kids in suits and to a bathroom and sun screened. It was half an hour before we even got in water. I think when the kids are older and there's not as much for them to do in other areas of the park, we will add the water stuff back in.
I was also less than impressed with the lazy river. Which is the whole reason we went over the water stuff this year. The girls LOVED the lazy river at Sesame Place. There's nothing to the Soak zone lazy river. No tunnels, waterfalls, or even anything to look at. You literally just go in a circle.
we are taking the kids to Idlewild for the first time next week & I am hoping to avoid the water park at all costs. I HATE getting wet.

That's the type of lazy river I love. Moving and floating, with nothing dropping water on you
I hate getting splashed, but love laying in an inner tube and just floating. Maybe they built it with moms like me in mind.
This is how I am, but one year we did do the water park, and I have to say that it wasn't that bad! My cousins work at Idlewild on their summer breaks, so my cousin reserved me one of the cabana things to use, and it was really nice. We went after going through the park and then when we were done swimming, used one of the family bathrooms to dry off and change before driving home. It surprised me because I expected to be stressed out and miserable, but it was relaxing and I actually enjoyed it! I don't know that we'll do it every year, but I would definitely consider doing it again (if I can get a cabana, haha!).
