periods post tubal

Has anyone had a tubal ligation? I had one in late December and I didn't have a period at all in Jan or Feb a 10 day long period in Mar and semi normal in Apr..but last month and this month its only been 2 to 3 days. Has anyone else had changes post tubal? They are 35 day cycles but that's not abnormal for me.

Re: periods post tubal

  • I haven't had a tubal ligation, but from a cursory google search (and some common sense regarding what the procedure actually does), your periods should be about the same as they were before. Irregular periods are a symptom of post tubal ligation syndrome, so I'd recommend watching out for any other symptoms you might have. If it's just the irregular periods, I'd guess it's nothing to worry about, but definitely call your doctor if you have any concerns.

  • My periods got progressively more painful and longer after my tubal. Eventually I was bleeding more often than I wasn't. I had an endometrial ablation a year and a half ago, but am still having pain. I will be getting a hysterectomy as soon as I can. It sucks. I am 34.
  • I had one 11 months ago, and had irregular cycles compared to my normal. Usually they are right at 30-31 day cycles but the ones after the tubal were anywhere from 25 to 35 days. They lasted from 3-10 days. I also had more cramping than usual (I swear I could feel where the tubes were cut -- weirdest sensation ever). My doc said to wait it out a while and they are pretty much back to normal now. Still not really sure what was going on, but you're not the only one to have weird cycles post-op.
