Yet another issue with the mortgage co

We have yet to sign a contract yet since we were waiting on getting a credit deletion letter from Western Dental that just happened to pop up for May (grrr, and that's a whole other story).

I was checking our checking account and saw a debit from the mortgage company for $365! I asked DH if he authorized anything and he said no. The only check that I wrote out was the $1k for the title company.

First, I don't even know what this is for, and second, don't we have to authorize it before they just dip into our checking account?

DH said that he will be calling the office manager on Monday to make a complaint (and of course asking what this was for)

That sounds like the price for an appraisal of a property.  But either way, make sure you call the bank for an explanation for this charge.

I agree with PP, it sounds like the appraisal cost. We had to write a check to our Mortgage Broker for the appraisal, in addition to a few other checks.

Sounds like appraisal, on ours in small print it did state we authorized charge. We weren't told when it would be withdrawn from our acc, had been in underwriting department about 1 week when we saw charge on bank online statement.

Did you speak with them about starting the appraisal process. That's interesting! Hopefully they will come up with an explanation!
