Too much blue...

I am in a small apartment and have a open style/cutout kitchen right by the living room. right now the kitchen is a sunny yellow and the LR is blue (Behr's Bayou color).

I kind of want a bright blue for the kitchen - I think it works with the oak cabinets much better than the yellow. DH wants to keep LR blue. Will that be too much? If we went with different shades of blue, what do you think would look nice?

Re: Too much blue...

  • I think it sounds nice! And it's a welcomed change from the standard shades of white and beige you find in most apartments.

  • Thanks. I think I'll try out 2 shades of the same blue tone. Last time we were trying to set the two areas apart by choosing two different colors (yellow & blue), this will be different. But we can use accents to set them apart.

     Thanks again :)

I think sticking with blue throughout will actually add continuity and make the space seem bigger, which is always good!
  • Yes, mix and match various shades of blue and I think it will compliment your decor.

Is it open concept? Because if it is, I would probably try and run the same blue throughout both areas and differentiate with accessories/countertops etc. If its not open concept I think its free game to use any two blues you want since they are in different rooms.
