Hey gals! I have less than a week to locate one through my insurance and I've called about 25 medical supply places and none of them carry 'em. I'm getting stabby. Apparently no one wants to carry them anymore because of Obamacare. Has anyone been successful at locating a place that carries them and takes insurance? I have aetna and it just says it has to be through a medical supplier on their list (and there's about 125 places and many of them are making diabetic shoe inserts, who knew there was such money in that).
I just want my free pump!
Re: breast pump
Oh, this is also on my list of things to do and I also have Aetna so let me know what you find out! In the meantime, is this supply company on this list? http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/71893724.aspx Babe had good luck with them.
Also, is this the supplier list you're going off of?

I got mine through Baird Medical. The LC in the hospital faxed an order form with my insurance information. (I have IBX, though.) It was delivered to my house the day after we got home from the hospital.
I had also not had any luck with calling multiple medical supply companies prior so that's why I waited until after my baby was born. (I get though that you're having twins and probably don't want to wait.)I'd give a shout to Pennsy's LC to see if she could help. G/l
You should get a symphony rental covered, or a Medela double electric...even if it weren't for obamacare you would still qualify since the babies are in the NICU.
Way back when Oliver was in the NICU 3 years ago, insurance covered a symphony rental for as long as I needed it (we have personal choice insurance). Esp if you're fortifying your milk, that's another reason they should cover it (b/c you HAVE to pump vs breastfeed).
See if LC or the neonatologist can write a script. We used Baird, too.
Sorry I posted and ran.
And I should have clarified. I have a symphony rental pump that insurance is picking up 100% as LONG as the babies are in the hospital. As soon as they are released, it's no longer considered medically necessary, therefore I need the free pump. Stupid, but that's all they'll pay for especially since they are picking up a double electric at 100%.
BUT, you're only eligible for a free pump for up to 60 days post delivery. So I only have until July 2nd since I delivered May 2nd.
I'm probably going to pay the $65 rental fee for a couple of months after they get released anyway since I know the symphony is a much better pump, but if a medela double electric is free, I'm definitely taking it. It was a super easy phone call. NewQueen - don't even try to find it locally. Just call and order it, sooooo much easier!
Update: After a call to Aetna, they told me SunMed and Sterling Medical are 2 places to get it through. I ordered from SunMed because I wanted the Medela -- Sterling carried the Ameda -- and I had it ordered from SunMed in less than 5 mins. It's currently running 3-4 weeks for delivery, FYI. No biggie for me because I have the hospital rental.
I ended up using Baird Medical at the request of someone on this board. Under my insurance (Keystone Direct POS), I only had to pay $88.00 for a Medela Double Electric. It is a no frills version of the PISA. There was a waiting list for the PISA, plus it was more money. Once I finally was able to convince my OB's office to fax over a script, they delivered the pump right to my front door COD withint a day or two of getting the script.
I also had a good experience with Sunmed's customer service, but I had left all of the information for them on my computer in work so I just called Baird.
Sadly, the pump now sits unused in a corner
Oh well, maybe if there's a #2.
I also came across this website not too long ago for those who might be interested in renting a Symphony. If the cost wasn't too much, I would've held onto mine longer. I had rented it from PA Hospital. They were actually jumping for joy when I brought it back. I am not sure if this company works with insurance, but it's another option to check out.

I used the symphony while E was in NICU and liked it but then used an Ameda Purely Yours and for me it worked just as well. I only had the PY because MIL won it at a work fair (she works at a hospital) a few weeks before E was born... lucky right?? insurance didn't cover one for me other than the rental.
JJ- you got a FB PM btw
