WWYD

This is a not that important question, but since the board has been pretty quiet I figured I'd ask. I had the same phone number for years but it had a Maryland area code from when I lived out there. To make it easier on A to memorize mine and Greg's cell phone numbers since we don't have a house line, I decided to change my number over to a Delaware area code number. The lady that had the number before me must not of told anyone that she doesn't have that number anymore. I get texts one every holiday that are intended to her. And they are the group texts, so 58473 people keep responding. I have literally told one number in particular that I am not his aunt and to delete my number out of his phone at least 10 times. I didn't get a happy Mother's Day text this year so I'm assuming he finally got the point. Her rental property manager calls, Harris business school calls, she even has the phone number linked to her Facebook so if I call someone that has their contacts linked up to FB, her freaking picture and name show up. This morning at 5AM I got a phone call that was for her. I lost my shiiit on the guy, but I was half alseep and could not believe I was really being woken up by this lady's friends or family. Again. So would you change your number? It's such a pain notifying every account we have, making sure A's school updates it because the last time I switched they didn't even though new paper work was filled out, getting friends and family to update their phones. I mean I just did all of this a little over a year ago. Or would you suck it up and hope Tamera's family stops trying to call me?

Re: WWYD

  • You have Tamera's Facebook info? I would totally send her a message and tell her to tell people that she changed her number. Take this advice with a grain of salt though because I'm super ragey today lol

Im sorry that you are dealing with this! It's so annoying. That was the reason why we canceled our house line. Whoever Rebecca was got 50 calls a day from debt collectors...

Oh I did message her on facebook. Her page is public and it looks like she never gets on. I even messaged FB tech support asking if they could just remove the number from her profile because it was confusing people when I called them, and I got no response. This was all about 3 months ago when I decided to type my phone number into the search because I couldn't figure out why her info was showing up. And boom, there she was.

  • oh my gosh that is annoying!  I would probably just change my number and pray the same thing doesn't happen again
  • If it's been months and they still don't have a clue, I'd change it!

  • I'd change it.  The calls will never stop.  There will always be someone that has that number and will annoy you.  Lol

When we moved, the number we were given belonged to a woman who owed money to everyone.  There were 3 different collection companies, lawyers and many businesses looking for her.  Even PayPal!  To make it worse, her name was also Karen.  After 6 months of dealing with it, we changed our number.
