Could use some good vibes, please!!

Alright ladies - I'm falling just short of feeling desperate now, and I remember how public shaming and vibes tend to work aorund here!

Every single loose end, except one, has been tied concerning our move. We're sold; Gavin is accepted into the school we want to send him to; husband is already down there working; I received final approval to go remote f/t....

The loose end is a place to live when we move! We're going to rent for a year in order to make sure that we get the house and neighborhood that we want. The hiccup - leasing with a German Shepherd! Our realtor is doing everything she can - I have proven that we have insurance coverage, that we crate him when not home, he has all vaccinations, I've sent pics of the dog lying next to the kids, offered more pet deposit, letter from the vet regarding his temperment... we're just waiting on landlords to call us back and this is getting annoying and nerve-wracking!

So, good vibes please?!!

  • Good vibes sent.

I know what a hassle it is to try to find a place that will allow dogs.  When DH and I moved to Pittsburgh we ended up having our pooches stay with our parents.  I have a Jack Russell and DH has a Shibi Inu. We had found and moved into a townhome that allowed us to have the pups but they barked at every sound next door and it just didn't work and now we are in a place that wouldn't allow them at all.  We are so excited to finally be getting a house (we have the inspection this afternoon) so we can finally have the pups rejoin the family.

  • Good luck! We ended up renting to one of DH's friends because no one would rent to him with an American Bulldog (yes, this is now OUR American Bulldog).

I know a lot of places have size limits but I think that it is insane since my 8 lb Boston Terrier has done more damage in a week than any of my giant dogs did in 15 years!

  • Good luck Clare!  I know a lot of rentals are pet free, so I hope you find one that suits you!
  • VIbes!

That is a tricky situation.  Our dog had to live with my parents for 3 months while we rented between moves.

It's great to hear all the other loose ends are tied up! Good luck with finding a rental!

  • We were in your spot a few years ago after we sold. It is nerve wracking and frustrating.  We did have a place come through off of craigslist at the last second who took our dog without question.

We're vacating it in the next few weeks--but since it's a  900sqft, 2 bedroom townhouse near the airport, I don't think it would work for you, but you definitely have vibes from me for a large-dog friendly rental!

  • Man, you have done everything when it comes to proving your dog's fit-ness for living in that rental!  :)  I can't see how anyone would deny that given all you've done.  Good vibes, for sure.  :)

hehehehe.  if you ever need to commiserate, you know where to find me.

Clare, I hope everything works out for you and you can stop stressing over it soon. Is it a breed specific ban? Or related to his size?  Good luck!

Thanks so much, but we're moving to TX so, even near the airport won't help. LOL Stick out tongue

Amanda - we're not sure if it's size or breed. Landlords have just said no (a lot of rentals are on a case-by-case basis).

Sheila - I thought I emailed you back?? I'll drop you one tonight - I can't hotmail from work. I'm so sorry!

And Kris, I agree - I told the realtor that my two oldest kids do more damage than the dog!

    Grrrrrrrrrrrr...............

I'm sure you did & it dissappeared somewhere in yahoo land.  I've been missing a few emails lately!

My friend has a mix that has some German shepherd in her. We tried to live together years ago and at least in our area in Pittsburgh it was the breed that was an issue. Many places said no GS. Good luck though! I'm sure it will work out!
