Home inspector recommendations?

Hi all! We are buying a family home, so having a home inspector is more for our knowledge than a contingency to purchase the home, but does anyone here have a home inspector they liked? The property is in Newton and is a 2-family (pretty old - originally built in 1889).

Thanks in advance!

Re: Home inspector recommendations?

  • We recently used and liked Mark George from Home Inspection Assoc. We are first time home buyers and he took the time to explain everything to us.
  • I am a first time home buyer in Natick and used Sherlock Homes. Our house is about 100 years old and he was amazing, very thorough and explained everything so we actually understood what he was talking about! He also gives a discounted rate for first time home buyers. We had him for an inspection that was something from a nightmare (we didn't make it past the basement), and he came to the next inspection a few months later for free.
  • Do not use Alan Poole.... Takes a long time, gets off track, and had some major misses in our home.
