Feedback on local beaches?

We have an 18-month-old, live in Rockland County, and are trying to find a clean local beach where we can play with our daughter in the sand and swim for a few hours without the hassle of a long drive.  We found these beaches online, and are wondering if anyone has positive or negative feedback on them:  Lake Sebago (Harriman State Park), Lake Tiorati (Harriman State Park), Greenwood Lake (Orange County), Croton Point Park, Oakland Beach in Rye, and Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk.  TIA!

Re: Feedback on local beaches?

  • If you would make drive Putnam (off Taconic) we are members of the Veterans Park in Kent and its very clean, life guard, playground with access for her (ramps) fields, tables and hiking.  It's $40 for year (year round park things to do) or $8 a day and FREE for veterans/current military.

I have gone to 2 in Westport last year which were nice but rocky/shelly.

  • Thank you!  Do you have the address to the park?  Not sure if you meant Veterans Park in Carmel (201 Gypsy Trl Road) or Clarence Fahenstock Memorial State Park in Kent Lakes (1498 Route 301), or maybe another one?  Thanks again.
  • It is off Gypsy Trail.  I have been to both and prefer Veteran's Memorial.  There are bathrooms there too:).
