What should I do to welcome to the neighborhood?

Re: New Neighbors

  • I really enjoy making pies (I give a cinnamon-nut-raisin one to my neighbors at Christmas), so I'd do a seasonal one. Do you have a baking specialty?

To go another direction, you could do a little fridge notepad with the names and numbers of good companies nearby.

Are your other neighbors close? Y'all could do a potluck in honor of the new neighbors.

  • I did a variation of the pie thing. I went over and invited them over for coffee and pie. The H was unable to come but the wife and her 3 year old were able to stop so we enjoyed my key lime pie and got to chat. I think I have made a new friend. She is also is SAHM( none of my other neighbors are)!

  • Maybe some cookies, preferably without nuts. And what about some local takeout menus, ie Chinese, Pizza, Hoagies of places you would recommend?

I know this is a couple weeks old, but TarHeels, would you be willing to share your pie recipe? I'm a pie baker and this sounds heavenly!!

I have a stash of 9" inch plastic plates with little round bumps on the bottom in concentric circles that I got for .50 each that I give edible gifts on. They are in various colors and I don't expect them back. You can also get china plates at thrift stores and have them for the same purpose.
