help from ladies with heavy legs?

Hi All,

I am over weight and have very heavy legs with cankles and I simply do not show them now after years of unwanted comments. However , I have toyed with the idea that maybe with the right style of skirt and shoes that perhaps I could get up the courage to show them again as there are sooo many pretty dresses I'd love to try.

I'm not used to wearing heels but am willing to do a wedge. How do you ladies with legs like mine work it ?

Thanks !

Re: help from ladies with heavy legs?

  • I say go for it! Be confident in who you are and that you are beautiful. :-)
  • Although I am not really very overweight (just about 10 lbs. overweight) I do have larger legs. I always have and I always do, even when I am at my ideal weight. I especially hate my calves. I don't have cankles, but they're certainly not what I'd life for them to look like. I used to be very shy about showing my legs in shorts or skirts, but now I've realized that I don't have anything to be ashamed of because there are sooooo many really skinny girls with cankles. If I want to wear shorts, I wear shorts. Just be sure to choose something that you feel comfortable in.
  • I'm sure you are beautiful and shouldnt be so down on yourself! I am not overweight but I love to style :) I would say maybe a pretty maxi dress with wedges. Make sure the top of the maxi is a little more form fitted to balance out the larger flowy bottom :) I think you could also rock a great pencil skirt and pumps or wedges. Maybe in a darker color and a bright colored top to draw the attention upward.

    Rock your confidence girl!

  • I'm also thicker and I think a wedge definitely works better. Don't do an ankle strap. It will only highlight what you want to mask. Try a peep toe so you aren't cutting off your leg with a closed wedge.

Also, I'd tried pencil skirts but I think they make me look even bigger. I haven't found a skirt that works for me but maybe you could try an A line with the wedge.
