Burn Spots in Grass from Dog Pee

So our puppy, Remington, pees all over the yard and leaves what my boyfriend calls "burns" in the grass - not sure if that's the technical term, but they're basically little patches of dead grass.  We still live with my boyfriends parents, and his dad is not too thrilled with these patches (he spends a TON of money on his yard every year. It's his pride and joy).

I know that there are pills we can give the dog to prevent this from happening, but I'm worried that they'll cause health issues either immediately or long term.  The last thing I want is to make my puppy sick.  Has anyone used these pills or have any recommendations/advice on alternate cures?

Re: Burn Spots in Grass from Dog Pee

  • Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think giving a spoonful of apple cider vinegar with meals can help make the pee less acidic??

I know a lot of people just hose down the pee spot right after their dog goes, too.

  • Not sure if there's anything you can do or not. Our dog has been having such strong urine all of his life. I wouldn't give any pills unless I talked with the vet first.
