Holy rain

I picked teh wrong time to take EJ to daycare this morning.  I thought my cars engine may flood out and stall a few times crossing some deep water.  be safe out there friends!

Re: Holy rain

  • Noblestown Road from the West End is almost flooded. My boss is currently stuck in Glendale since the road is completely submerged by the Dairy Queen.
  • They just closed outbound Ft Pitt tunnel because the parkway is flooded on the back side. When I came across the bridge, they had one lane closed and traffic was jammed. I went through the west end instead and Greentree road was covered in muddy water, rocks and branches. Big fun.

  • I have a 5 minute commute to work, but the road I usually take was like a river.  I was following a brave Cavalier in my Explorer and when we just about made it to the end of the road, there was a cop there who closed the road.  So....we had to turn around and drive back through the mess.

  • Just saw this on twitter!

@Allegheny_Co: City of Pittsburgh is asking everyone to stay off all roads south of Mt. Washington.

  • I didn't run into any issues driving from the North Hills to town, but DH has been trying to get to Robinson for well over an hour.

By my FB you would think this is the apocalypse!

  • I was surprised by how badly South Hills got hit! It was pretty normal 'crappy rain day' weather in the North Hills... hope everyone stays safe!

  • i have basement water... a floor drain that is purely decorative and not doing a damn thing. Trying to keep up with the trickle in with the shop vac... totally missing K right now (he is OOT for work)

Trying to be grateful that is all the problems I have right now. But i still want to whine.

You are entitled to whine about it, water in the basement is a huge pain :(  I hope you can keep up with it and have minimal damage.

    Whine away!

  • It finally slowed down. I am glad I was home. I had to have filled the shop vac like 10 times. (each time taking 3 trips to a drain that worked with a full bucket to empty the darn thing).  Been almost an hour since I last sucked water, and it is barely a puddle. Dehumidifier on.  Debating on when to get EJ from school... this next round better spare the south hills. we are full.
