Does anyone have experiences with the FURminator shed control products? Seether has a serious shedding problem, despite regularly bathing her and brushing her daily. The products have good reviews, so I was thinking of trying them, but they are pretty pricey, so I was looking to get a second opinion. Any other product recommendations are also appreciated. Also, I was considering getting her professionally groomed (I've always done it myself, along with controlling fleas). Would that help?

Re: FURminator
We bought one a while back and I LOVE it. It has helped cut down on the shedding so much. I would not pay full price though. I got mine brand new on Ebay for $14 with free shipping. I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone who wants to cut down on flying fur.
What kind of dog do you have? We have an Australian Shepherd and I don't think professional grooming would do much for her. Her coat is practically self cleaning and as long as I brush it regularly we have no problems.
I don't know what other products there would be other than the brushes. We have a Furminator brush for our crew and I LOVE it. Our black kitty was shedding in clumps about a month ago (I couldn't so much as run my hand down her back without coming away with a palmful of fur), and a good brushing with the Furminator helped immensely.
You do need to be diligent in using it a few times a week to get the full benefit. You can either use a regular grooming brush in between days you Furminate, or you can go without brushing (whatever works best for you), just don't use the Furminator every day. It IS possible to overuse it and leave your pet with little bald spots!

Ditto the recommendation to buy the Furminator on EBay (or Amazon) - they are far cheaper than at PetCo, PetSmart, etc. I have one for my 2 pugs (who are shedding machines, especially in the summer), though I need to be more diligent about using it (I'm at about once a week right now).
To help with the shedding, I also give my dogs salmon oil (one pump each per day based on their weight - I just squirt it on their evening meal) and feed a high quality food. If you aren't already doing those things, you could look into it as additional ways to minimize the shedding.
