Anyone suffer from this? Did you get the mouth guard and was it helpful? I'm thinking of getting it but it is so much money I want to make sure it's worth it. I've been having tremendous ear pain on top of jaw pain. Thanks!
Re: TMJ
I have horrible TMJ issues. I get a ton of jaw/throat pain which leads to unbearable neck and shoulder pain that basically ruins my life when it gets bad.
I did get a mouth guard. How much were you quoted? I went to a tmj specialist first and they wanted $1000! I ended up going to my reg dentist and paid around $230. It does help a lot. I don't wear it often because a lot of my issues are from daily activities but when it gets really bad I do wear it and it is worth it.
You could try a mouth guard from Walmart or Walgreens/CVS if you have either of those. They are a lot cheaper but from what I've seen as a dental assistant, I don't think it would be much help. I would recommend seeing a TMJ specialist/Oral surgeon. Yes you'll fork out a good amount of money for tx but it would be worth it. Schedule a consultation first. Most specialist require a small fee to be seen and some consults are free. Good luck!
