When I picked Lucy up at doggy daycare yesterday they said she got into a scuffle w/ another dog (mind you, they didn't offer this information up until I asked how her day was). The guy said she "finished the fight & showed the dog who was bigger". I'm disappointed & caught off guard. This is completely out of character of her. The doggy day care said the other dog was an adolescent male, but they didn't see how it started, just heard the encounter & stopped it. He said "I'm wondering if the dog didn't just love Lucy & was up in her business to much". They separated them both for the day & both did fine the rest of the day. I am a little confused on the whole situation, he tried to explain things while I was trying to wrangle her up in the lobby, it was a bit distracting. From what I know, she didn't bite or harm the other dog "just finished it" whatever that means? *sighs*. DH said I shouldn't worry about it. Part of me wants to call today & hear it again when I'm not so distracted.
On another note - I posted about a month ago about Lucy being lethargic & not the same. The vet ran some blood tests & she for sure has pancreatitis. Monday & Tuesday were the first days in months I thought she was doing better & more herself. However, last night & this morning, she is acting like her hind legs hurt - hard time getting on the ottoman to lay down & very slow to go in & out of the house (there is 1 larger step). I don't remember her hurting when I picked her up, just later in the evening. Wonder if she pulled something when she rushed off the ottoman at the doorbell last night.
Re: scuffle at doggy daycare yesterday
Re: the scuffle at daycare: they'll happen sometimes. No matter how laid back or friendly your dog usually is. Zoey had a day like that at the park a few weeks ago, and it seriously bothered me, but thinking about it, she got overwhelmed from the get-go, so she was just thrown off her usual friendly, playful self. As long as no one got hurt, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Re: pancreatitis: I forget, what food are you feeding? I've heard a LOT of reports of pets eating Blue Buffalo products who get pancreatitis. I hope that's not what you're feeding and that your vet is helping get Lucy better, but if you do feed BB, definitely consider switching to something else. There are a lot of other great brands for a comparable price to BB.
B/w 1/8: betas 17,345, progesterone 25.6
About the pancreatitis. We were feeding her Kirkland Lamb & Rice (by costco). Now the vet has her on Hill's Prescription Diet W/D (low fat-glucose management - gastrointestinal with chicken). The vet recommended this for about 2 months & then thought we could transition her into something commercial that is still really low fat. So far, we're pretty happy with this food, even the boy likes it (oi!)!. Good to know about blue buffalo!!
