Back in December I had a 4cm cyst on my right ovary that caused me a lot of discomfort and pain. My dr switched my BC Pill and it went away at my ultrasound re-check. Now this month my symptoms are back. I went to the dr right away (july 3rd) determined to not let it drag out this time. She did an internal exam and a pregnancy test (negative). I had a pelvic ultrasound done July 10 and there was no cyst. I was shocked as I was positive that's what it was since I have the same exact symptoms as before.
Now I'm confused as to what it could be. I did take a pill 24 hours late on june 21st and then started my period on June 24, like i was supposed to and had it for 7 days .I had horrible cramps and back pain and a pretty heavy flow considering my periods are generally light and minimal cramping. I have had cramps and low back pain pretty consistently since my period. Along with twinges of pain on the right side of my abdomen and groin. I have also felt nauseous in the morning like i did the first time around with the cyst. This week I have spotted two days as well. The dr said not to worry unless the pain "takes my breath away."
Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated as I am at a loss as to what's going on!
Re: No cyst, so what's going on?
Find another gyn and get another workup. I don't know if it is possible for a cyst to reabsorb.
You might also want to get a thyroid workup, too. A thyroid out of whack can also send your periods into kilter.
Some fibroids can grow on the outside of the uterus and can't be found with just an ultrasound. Endometriosis is also not detectible via ultrasound. Get examined more thoroughly.
I hope you can feel some relief soon!
I had a horrific bleeding episode and he attributed that to fibroids.
He does the surgery for the cyst. When I went for my postop visit to see if everything was healing, he told me I had an endometriosis problem.
I said, "Well what about the fibroids?"
He replied "You never had a fibroid problem."
Huh???? They were showing up on the ultrasound "ginormous" and you gave me their location and measurements and such....
And now there's no fibroid issue???
I rethought that doc about several months later, when another incident happened. I have not been back to him and I do not plan on using his services ever again.
Apparently after surgery, btw, the docs don't stick around to talk to you. Must be something really new (note the sarcasm) They don't discuss the surgery, or what was found, or anything, with you, post op when you wake up in recovery --- he spoke to my family and then he cleared out.
Crazy, I tell ya...crazy.
