My boyfriend and I have been planning to move in together and it's something I really want because we live 2 hours apart, but I want to go back to school and get a better job because I'm going to need a better car soon, and I can't make ends meet if I'm paying rent, groceries, utilities, a car payment, and paying for school. Right now I live at home and its rent free. He keeps saying it will all work out but I want to have a plan! How should I handle this situation? I want to be with him and I know we have the rest of our lives to live with one another, but I feel if I tell him we should wait to live together until we are firmly on our feet and both have full time jobs he will feel that I'm just not wanting to start our life together. Help!
Re: Moving in together?
School and career first. You need to worry about you. If your BF doesn't respect your desire to plan ahead for your secure future, you have your answer on this whole relationship.
He needs to grow up and respect your position.
If you take the time to get on your feet now, you will be so thankful later on down the road. I lived with my parents until I was 24 and took advantage of it! I saved enough money that we could put a good down payment down on our house and still had more than enough left over for an emergency fund. As much as I wanted to move out years prior I would have regretted wasting money on rent, utilities, groceries, etc. Get yourselves situated - finish school, replace your car and save every other dime you make! These small sacrifices will pay off handsomely in a few years!
