Help Me Decorate - EntryWay

Need help with my boring entry way. Would like to add a centerpiece with some color and since the entry way is the first impression of the house, I want something grande. It would need to be large because I have a lot of space in between the table and the mirror that I would like filled.

Re: Help Me Decorate - EntryWay

  • I'd probably get a real, or silk tall topiary to go in front of the white stair wall, in a nice pot. Many people are against silk plants, but it's hard to get things to grow indoors unless you have a green thumb. You might want to look for something as tall as the top of that wall. It will take up some of that space.

For the table you probably want to divide it visually into thirds. You want one item almost as tall as the bottom of the mirror, another smaller, then another the smallest. The smallest one should be about 8-10 inches high. You could do nice vases, a tray with some small collectibles, or a lovely bowl that you put your keys in when you walk in.

On the lower shelf I'd put some nice looking books in the middle with heavy decorative  bookends on either side. If you don't have any books with nice bindings, check second hand stores, or libraries often have sales.

  • The mirror's too wide for the table, so I would rehang it vertically or find it a new home. Vertical would be ideal because you've got lots of ceiling height to work with. The mirror's also hung too high - it needs to come down to somewhere around 7"-9" off the table.

I saw this pin the other day and thought it was a great gallery of styled console tables.

    Welcome and good luck! :)
