Where can I put the litter box?
Hi Ladies,
it has been a long time since I posted here, but I'm having a bit of a dilemma. DH and I are trying to get pregnant with our first child. We have 3 dogs and two cats. Currently our litter box is located in my office, which will become the nursery. Our dogs and cats don't get along so the cats mostly stay upstairs on the second floor and the dogs stay on the first floor. I'm wondering where to put the litter box when we have to clear out my office for a baby. In the bathroom? Where do those of you with kids and pets keep your litter box? Thanks for any tips!
Strummer and Abbey are on to you.

Re: Where can I put the litter box?
My go-to favorite for hiding litter boxes is in closest. We use a cat door, like the kind people use to let their cats outside. Yeah, ya have to cut a whole in the door...but if you're particularly fond of the door, just buy a cheap one if ya can to install a door into. You'll still have to clean them frequently, but they'll be hidden. If you have carpet, I'd line it with something so the litter doesn't get in it.
That's all I got, aside from just putting it in the bathroom.
I also vote for putting the litter box in a closet if you can. Like PP said, you can get a little "cat-door" and use that, which will help keep the litter contained. We got one for pretty cheap at Petsmart (designed for use inside the home, not for indoor/outdoor use).
If your laundry room is upstairs you can try putting it in there as well. That's where ours used to be until we moved into a new place.
Good luck!
Right now we have one in a closet and the other in our unused dining area in our apartment.
In the new house we hope to keep one in the closet, it works out pretty well. It's out of the way. We plan on putting one in the basement, on the unfinished part. And the third one will likely go in the 2nd bedroom, which will be turning into my craft room or possibly the dining room since it's a huge amount of space!
My parents actually have one of their litter boxes by the front door, kind of poor taste, but they wanted it on hardwood floor and that's like the only part of the house that has hardwood. Another in the basement on the unfinished part, and their 3rd one is in what was once my room.
