I guess I need to see a dermatologist? I'll be 30 in a few weeks
No one ever told me how to care for my face. So growing up, I didn't wash it more than rinsing it in the shower. Maybe used Clearsil some. I'd get 1-2 pimples each month.
Then after having kids my face exploded. Nasty. I've tried all kinds of face washes. I've used salon products. Then in January, I switched to just using gold dial soap. My mom said she used it in her 30's. It was a freaking miracle. My skin cleared up for the first time in 4 years. But then I was told I was probably doing more harm than good so I went back to the salon stuff. And my face broke out crazy again. Tried going back to the dial & it's not working this time.
I was doing some research & was wondering if a morning cream with vitamin C & a night cream with Vit A would help? Anybody had a similar problem? What helped? I feel like I'm trying too many things but nothing helps.
Re: Share your face care routine & fav products !
I am going through something similar. I didn't battle with acne until I was 18 and that lasted only until I was around 23 (only had scaring to deal with).
So, clear skin aside from the occasional pimple until 30's. My hormones became enraged and took its wrath on my skin especially under my chin. Every month, just before my period, I have to deal with this mess.
So far this is what I have learned from may experiments and a bit of research:
1. Internal: I had to look at what I was eating, cut down sugar, drink more water and eat more clean.
2. External: I started using neutrogena grapefruit scrub, really lovely and not too harsh. Also used a mask from the same brand.
3. Amazing product line: It's kind of expensive but really good, its called arbonne. Their RE9 serum and day cream are so good for your face and filled with vitamins, in fact when I could afford to buy this regularly, I rarely broke out. Not sure why but it is good stuff. I use to be one of their reps but moved on to other things, boy do I miss my discount:)
4. Really cool tip: learned about this the other day...Icing your face is brilliant for your skin, it tightens, closes pores, and you have a natural glow.
It's all helping so far, but just like what PP said.I also have to switch it up or my skin gets used to the products. Hope that helps!

Newly Married??? Sister, let's relate!
Earlier this year, I purchased the Clarsonic Mia at Macy's for like $100 (they just came came out with the Mia 2, so the original Mia is now discounted). It's awesome. I use it with good ol' fashioned Cetaphil soap and my skin has never been clearer (or softer!).
As for lotions, etc. I swear by the Olay Regenerist line. Products range from $20-25, but CVS is good with coupons, and you can buy double packs at BJs, etc.
For Morning and Night Routine:
I wash my face with Black Soap by Shea Moisture and then apply tea tree oil. After I apply the oil, I use Clean and Clear 10% Benzoyl Peroxide cream and Clean and Clear Facial Moisturizer.
Also I try to drink at least 8 cups of water everyday because that has really helped with my breakouts.
If all else fails, I would recommend seeing your dermatologist.
