Pediatrician recommendations?

Hi there,

I'm due next month (the 15th!) and have put off finding a pediatrician due to impending insurance changes...but I can't put it off any longer!  So, please let me know if anyone loves their pediatrician, especially if they are near the Hunter's Creek area!  It looks like both Hunter's Creek Pediatrics and Pediatrics of Central Florida will be covered by my insurance, so if you go to either of these practices, let me know which docs you like (or don't).

  Thanks SOOOO much!!!

Re: Pediatrician recommendations?

  • I also highly recommend my pediatrician, Dr. Lauri Kayaleh in Dr. Phillips. Our local doctors recommended her to us, because as they said, "she loves babies and children!"

She's very nice, and terrific with my son. She takes the time to answer all your questions, throws in a couple personal stories of her own, and never rushes you out the door. One thing I love about her is that she does a spiel at the end of each doctor appointment with all of the important things in your babies life at the time - like reminding you to keep them sleeping on their back, car seat regulations, food guidelines, etc. That's very helpful to a first time parent! We've called the office in the past with a few questions that would have been answered by a nurse at any other practice. But she always came to the phone herself to talk to us!

The office is efficient, on time, and it's never difficult to get a last minute appointment. The nurses are fantastic too. I've never seen a nurse so fast at giving immunizations as Dr. Kayaleh's nurse!

  • I don't know about those, however I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE my pedi. Many of the parents at the school I work with go to her and recommended her to me. Her name is Dr. Annette Nielsen with Treehouse Pediatrics in Lake Nona. She is super fabulous. She is well worth the 15 minute drive from Hunters Creek! : )
  • Oh she does those new patient meetings ( I believe every Fri morning) I went when I was pregnant to meet her so I would recommend doing that as well with any pedi. you are considering. Good luck! Congrats on your baby too!

I agree with everything the previous post said.  Although I have only been to her one time (twice if you count prenatal visit) and my DH and I absolutely love her.  She was great at my first visit.  It was really bad timing and Ari had two dirty diapers and needed to eat while we where there and she gave us time to nurse and said she would come back and check on us to finish the exam after he ate.  They ran some test and I got a call back not even 2 hours later with the results.  She even called me the next day to check on Ari and to be sure I didn't have any questions and that everything was okay.  When she left the message, she even gave me her cell phone number to call if I did have questions.  So far I love her as our pedi.

  • Your post jogged my memory. Dr. Kayaleh gave us her cell phone number back when Collin was a newborn and had a blood test run. She told us to call her if we didn't receive results within a few hours. Now that is customer service that you RARELY see from doctors!

  • I second Dr. Annette Nielsen at Treehouse Pediatrics in Lake Nona. I brought Nate to her when she first opened, he was a preemie with major problems and she has been an amazing source of support for us. I highly, highly recommend her.
  • We started off at Hunter's Creek Peds and we switched after a few weeks. We were not impressed with the staff nor the doctors we saw. We take Taylor to Personal Pediatrics which is Dr. Kayaleigh's office but she sees Dr. Robbins her partner

We see Dr. Robbins as well!!   Grace was born less than a week ago, but we've been to her office twice already (and going back tomorrow).  I have been very impressed by the way they call us with blood work results so quickly.

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE our local health department!  There is never a long wait (less than 2 hours!) and the chance of getting scabies is Low. Plus, they give you a phone number you can call and someone will call you back!  Awesome customer service!!
