My new bedroom has a very large reach in closet (yay!) with two doors on it. They are like typical room doors that swing open. Each is about 3-3.5 feet wide so they require a lot of free space around the closet so they can be opened.
The room itself is not that large so I'm not sure leaving that much space around the closet is practical. I think it'll look silly to have a closet with no doors on it though.
I'm afraid curtains will look tacky (if you have pictures where that isn't the case, please point me to them). Do I have any other options?

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
some options/thoughts:
Sliding Doors
These seem great except you have to keep sliding back and forth. I have them now. They drive me crazy. I wish I could just open doors and look at everything I have.
Bi-Fold Doors
These are good because you can see everything together (eliminates the above pet peeve) and requires about half of the space that your current doors would require. Downside is they're a little old school, although you can get flat front ones that are pretty nice (IMO). I'm actually doing this now for a laundry area as it's economical and requires little space.
Pocket Door
If you have the room and the budget to make a pocket door into a surrounding wall, these are AWESOME. But, it requires a little remodel so...
Curtain
Ghetto (sorry)
Change to sliding doors if possible. There are pictures of curtains in place of doors on closets on Pinterest, some look good some don't.
We had to take off our fold out doors on our laundry closet because we couldn't shut them with our front loading machines. We put up a rod and curtains, not the best look but definitely more economical than adding a few inches to the closet.
Thanks ladies. I had no idea I could buy a sliding door kit-- I think that's what I'll look into.
