I keep meaning to bring this up here. I am horrified to hear that Russia plans on arresting and deporting and tourist who they perceive to be homosexual during the Olympics. Not to mention what they do to their own countrymen and women.
Honestly, it is so bad for human rights that I think the Olympic Committee should pull the event. To me, it's that bad. It's the same as them saying only white people are allowed to attend the Olympics in their country. So gross.

Do you think the Olympics should be boycotted?
Re: Russia VS. Gay People
That would be pretty hypocritical of us. We sent millions of dollars to Egypt during Morsi's administration (even today our President still uses money to try to sway and or provide support Morsi's government).
The Muslim Brotherhood has been very clear about their views on homosexuality and equality (hell, how about just basic consideration) for women.

So your reasoning is that since we gave one money to one regime against homesexuality, we should give money to all of them?
The Russian government announcement is significant.
To make change, people have to stand up for what is right. If not us, who? If not now, when?
DMoney will be a kickass big sister
Since when has the United States not been hypocritical? I ask that seriously. I find that 99.9% of people I meet (including myself at times) are hypocritical.
Also, I wasn't just referring to the United States when I asked if the Olympics should be boycotted. I'm not sure if you were aware, but there are other nations that participate. LOL. And I'm even wondering if individuals will boycott it. Had I planned on going, I would now be cancelling those plans. Screw you, Russia.
I'm curious Illumine, are you saying you personally have have no problem with Russia's intentions because of US involvement in Egypt?
Same here.
My father was in the Olympics in 1936, they were held in Berlin. We should have boycotted that year.
Wow, the world hasn't changed much, huh? Very sad.
Do I believe that homosexuals should have equal rights? Yep, so much so that I believe that all Americans should be provided with legal civil unions only and that the whole religious marriage thing should be left out of our government all together.
But why should I get all hot and bothered over some games when most people (other countries included) wont say boo to the fact that within the last couple years homosexuals were put to death - not just kicked out of their country - in certain countries.
if this was such a huge issue for you, are you or did you do anything about our countries support for Morsi and The Islamic Brotherhood? Go ahead and not watch NBC, but don't get all morally superior if you didn't write your Representatives when we sent 20 F-16's to his government.
And while people are hypocritically picking and choosing their hills to die on, please remember this the next time someone from your opposite policital party does something "wrong" and try to remember this very moment when you justified yourself.
Of all the arguments for or against a boycott of the Russian games, this has got to be the absolute stupidest one ever.
