Weight loss post baby

I've asked this on the bump without much success... Have any of you ladies tried to lose weight while nursing? How did it go? Any tips? I'm trying and taking it very slowly, but it's definitely tricky trying to eat correctly, exercise with a new one, and not have my supply drop... Any advice is more than welcome!

Re: Weight loss post baby

  • Have you been logging your eating?  Do you know how many calories you need?      The biggest key is to be eating Lots of Healthy stuff.  fruits/veggies, healthy cuts of meat, etc.      There are lots of sites to figure out where your calories should be.   Add 500 to that for milk production.

    Keep up the WATER.

Congrats on baby, and good luck!

  • i am 8 months pp and have lost all pregnancy weight and some more. I did not intentionally set out to lose the weight. I just ate a balanced diet and about 3 or 4 months ago started walking every day and then started jogging.  i am still nursing too.  I don't recommend setting up a specific goal weight wise but rather making sure you are getting plenty of water, good nutrition and physical activity.

  • regarding supply, make sure you are hydrated and addsome oatmeal and flax to your diet.

  • I started Weight Watchers while nursing - I saw great results with weight loss, without a change in my nursing habits (plus nursing moms get more points!)
  • Think lifestyle change, not short-term diet
