Does this Ice cream flavor combo work?

Hi Ladies

I went to my local farmer's market yesterday and I am so excited to make some ice cream. I was just wondering what your opinion is on combining the things I got into a tasty ice cream.

I bought fresh cherries and a jar of fig marmalade. Do you think they would go together or would it be too sweet? I was thinking of infusing cardamom into the cream, I definitely want to use the cherries, but could totally use the marmalade somewhere else if it would be too much/too weird...

opinions?

thanks in advance ladies.

Re: Does this Ice cream flavor combo work?

  • I think it could be too sweet because both figs and cherries are naturally very sweet, so in an ice cream it might be too much. What about cherries and chocolate? Some semi-sweet chips or something like that might work well. Good luck!
  • I think cherries and cardamom would work, but definitely leave the fig marmalade out.  Simpler is usually better with ice cream.

  • Yeah I ended up leaving out the marmalade. I didn't have fresh cardamom pods (I thought I did) so I ended up adding a bit of ground cardamom, ginger and cinnamon. it turned out alright.  I'd make some tweaks next time for sure.
