Re: QOTD 7/29

  • Nothing formal. I grew up with a weekend house on a lake with family around on every side. So, while there was not formal family reunion, there were 6-7 other family houses with people there every weekend. Labor Day weekend, it always seemed like everyone was there.

  • For my dad's side - Not formally. If we go down in the summer there's a huge cook out. People started going away for thanksgiving so my mamaw doesn't get too stressed feeding 60+ people.

My mom's side hasn't gotten all together since both grandparents died. That is one messed up family... I'm the baby grandkid so I have no idea what went down.

  • We had a family reunion 10+ years ago with relatives from my maternal grandmother's side of the family. Other than that, we see each other at family events (weddings, etc) and keep in touch via Facebook.

  • My dad's side did not all that long ago for one of the older patriarchs, for lack of a better term, 90th (?) birthday.

My mom's side did about eight years ago or so.

  • My mom's dad's family has had a few reunions.  Nothing recently.  The first was probably about 20 years ago, and then maybe about 5 years after that, when some relatives from Italy were visiting.

My mom's mom's family has had one every year for the past 34 years.  There's only 1 or 2 that we've missed, but it's only about 45 minutes from where we live (it's in the same location every year).

  • There was one on each side of the family when I was in elementary school.  But, nothing since.

  • Not really. On my mom's side there are some cousins who throw a get together every couple of years, but it's always small. I'm not sure how we're cousins, I just know we are... :-X My aunt and uncle and grandfather usually come.
