Ceiling fan

I came home last night and my ceiling fan had crashed to the floor. I am SO grateful that no one was standing underneath it. Anyways, I now am in search of a ceiling fan. I dont like them, but we live in LV and need one in the family room. I went to lamps plus today and the ones I liked were $300! Is that typical? The one we had was a hampton bay and it was decent looking and Im guessing pricey. I just cant believe how expensive they all are! Where are other good sites to search? thanks so much...

Goodness, no, that's not typical. Hampton Bay is sold at Lowe's or HD (I can't remember) and are generally under $150. Big box stores will be your go to for this. You'll need a proper bracket installed since you're likely lacking one. (Not all ceiling mounts are strong enough for ceiling fans - that's likely why yours fell today.)

I sent my dad a picture and he said it wasnt installed right and we need a $14 fan box from Lowes"...exactly what you said! We didnt install it, so at leas my husband isnt in trouble. I will definitely be going tomorrow!
