Re: QOTD 7/30

  • Cats & dogs...i used to be allergic to a ton more crap (dust, dust mites, english plantain, etc) I got allergy shots for 15 years and when they retested me at the end i was only allergic to cats and dogs, i cant go to MIL's house, they have 2 dogs and between that and her house not being very tidy after an hour i cant breathe! I have to glare at H to be like lets get out of here before i die...the last time i was pregnant and there and he is ever so slowly eating his ice cream and im looking at him like hurry up before i pass out!

DH is def allergic to something, his allergies are seasonal, he will constantly have post nasal drip and it irritates the crap out me to hear him sniffle, im like "blow your nose for christs sake" lol

  • I don't actually know what all I am allergic to.  I know a good chunk of it, but sometimes I just break out in hives and have no idea why.  And it seems I find I'm allergic to something new every year.

For what I do know I am allergic to it is: Penicillin, sulfa, Z-packs, sunscreen, scented lotions/soaps, salicylic acid (acne treatment) most cleaning products, I have to special order all cleaning products, and laundry detergent, liquid foundation and face paints, birth control pills, and I have fall allergies.  DH has gotten to the point where he just grabs benadryl and laughs at me when I have hives.  It's pretty frequent.

DH has spring allergies for like 2 weeks and acts like he's dying.  I have very little sympathy for him.

Oh my God!! You poor thing!  Have you tried to get any treatment for any of these allergies?

H and I get seasonal allergies, and his are worse than mine.  The last couple of years, he's gone to get a steroid shot and that has really helped him.

Other than the seasonal allergies, neither one of us are allergic to anything else.  I've never been stung by a bee, so I have this irrational fear of being allergic to them. lol

  • H and I both have seasonal allergies but, luckily, that's it. Grass is the biggest problem for both of us and I'm really allergic to lilacs too.

  • Bad seasonal allergies, and I'm also allergic to mango.

  • I'm allergic to bee stings and some antibiotics. I also have some random environmental allergies that bug my sinuses now and again. H, the lucky duck, isn't allergic to anything.

When I kept swelling up from my birth conrtol I was counter acting it with antihistamines, per doctor orders.  It was working, I forgot to take it a couple days and I swelled up 20 pounds in one day, I decided the risk of being on birth control was too high for what it was worth.  So I just went off of it.  What I really need to do is have testing done and actually talk to an allergist about it.  It's on my list of things to do it just seems there are never enough hours in the day!  Most reactions are just hives for a few days, it's just really annoying.

  • We both have seasonal allergies, and it started when we moved to MD... so we are allergic to something around here, maybe something that grows around the bay.

I'm not algeric, but I have adverse reactions to things that makes you drownsie. Like benedryl, codeine, etc.  I do NOT get tired, but awake, and jittery... almost panic attacks because my heart starts racing.  Yea, I didn't tell H that until like last spring when I picked it up for him for his allergies.  He's like Um I SHOULD KNOW THESE THINGS!  I'm like sorry, I just know not to take them...

  • I am allergic to Mary Kay's hypoallergenic mascara.  I really like their mascara but it would make my eyes water and itch constantly.

    DH isn't allergic to anything.

  • I'm allergic to latex (I noticed my hands would itch when I wore latex gloves, but didn't connect the two until I had sex with a latex condom....not a fun way to put two and two together) and coppertone products.

H has spring allergies and is allergic to the contrast dye used for CT scans. The last time he took it without benadryl type stuff, his eyeball swelled everywhere except his iris...really creepy!

  • Pretty much everything...

Luckily, I'm not allergic to medicine and food.  I'm allergic to cats, mold, grass, pollen, hayfever, rag weed, pig weed (doesn't grow here but apparently has very light dander that travels far), never been diagnosed, but I think dogs, and now I suppose nail polish too.  Other things too, but I can't think of more.  I was tested when I was 14 and haven't been tested since, so things could have changed.  I've been getting weekly shots since last June because I didn't want to be swollen and ugly for the wedding.  They have helped a lot.  I used to have to take an antihistamine every day.  Now I don't need to.

I can't use scented items or I break out in all sorts of rashes and hives.  I used scent free dye free laundry detergents, lotions and soaps.  I have to use hypoallergenic make up, although I rarely wear make up. Almay works best for me.  I've also had good results with Neutrogena.  Mac used to bother me, but recently I haven't had problems with them.

My H is only allergic to Penacillin.  He sometimes gets seasonal allergies, will take a Claritin and he's fine.  I get jealous.

ETA: I can no longer wear perfume because it irritates me so much and H can't wear cologne either because of my allergies.

  • I think for me the questions is what am I not allergic to? Lol

I have 60+ allergies including seasonal, most fruits and veggies (oral allergy syndrome) including lettuice!!, pet dander and fur, cefrozil antibiotic, severe allergy (epi pen required) for tree nuts and bees/wasps, and more. I also get hives from extreme cold. Half the time I get a hive and have no idea what caused it.

i seriously get new allergies every year and it makes eating difficult. It has gotten to the point where if I am going to a new doctor I have to bring in a printed sheet of allergies because there is nowhere near enough room on the forms they give you Lol

I usually get allergy injections but since I have been pregnant and/or breastfeeding for the past 3 years I haven't been able to get them :(

    lol

I am allergic to sulfa drugs and also have seasonal allergies.  Grass and pollen seem to be the worst for me.
