Martin is here!

We had a scheduled c/s for August 5th but Martin wanted to pick his own Birthday.

At about 9:30 PM on July 31st I had my snack and we went to bed, we fell asleep at about 10:30 PM. At 11:30 PM my water broke. I could tell it had broken, I woke Robert up to get a towel and luckily the towel caught almost all of it when I sat up. I called the hospital and they said "you have a good story" and told us to come in.

Robert grabbed our mostly packed bags and put them in the car. I dressed and put a towel on my seat of the car and we drove to the hospital. We got there about 12:30 AM on August 1st.  They had me give a urine sample and dress in a hospital gown. Robert was super excited and we were both excited that "this was it". They monitored my contractions and Martin's heartbeat. They did a quick u/s to check that he was still beech, of course he was.

Since I had eaten, they said they would do the c/s at 5:30 AM. They showed us to our room. Robert brought in our bags. My contractions continued. Time passed quickly. They prepped me for the c/s and took me down to the o/r at about 5:45 AM.

I had a spinal and it was really good. Quick and I wasn't sick at all. Martin was born at 6:17 am. The first thing i heard were big screams and crying which I was so happy about. He was given a 9/9 score. Robert brought him over to me and we tried to put him on my chest but there wasn't much room, so Robert held him by head and we sang him happy birthday. He was 6 pounds 4 ounces and 19.75 inches.

They closed me up quickly and got me back to my room. We were able to do skin to skin right away and Martin fed for a while. We are so lucky, he is a healthy baby. He has good lungs and likes to scream :-)

We are home now. Here are some pictures of him.
