Maybe moving to NJ

MH company was sold and there is a chance will be moving to NJ from the Boston area.  He will be working in Rockaway.  Any suggestions on towns in that area with good school and affordable houses?

Re: Maybe moving to NJ

  • It depends on what you'd expect for affordable. I think Parsippany-Troy Hills is a good school district. I have a few friends who grew up in Rockaway. I think Mount Olive has good and off parts of it. Budd Lake is a little back woodsy. If you want country, go west of Hackettstown. Hackettstown has a cute downtown area and any store you'd want. If you want more suburb, go east of Rockaway. I think most of the towns south of Rockaway are more suburban. If you go north into Jefferson, you're getting more country again.

  • Sparta has great schools and is only 20-30 minutes from Rockaway.  Denville is also nice and Randolph.
