Need cheap date night ideas

Hey ladies!

DH and I plan one night a week for our date night.  We're new to Portland and of course would love some ideas for date night to check out this great city but would like some budget friendly options of all types.  Any great ideas?

For a cheap date night DH and I usually try hit a low key happy hour for dinner and drinks. One of our favorites is McMenamins on the Columbia. You can get soup and burgers for a great price, plus specials on pints.

Try the Portland City Grill in downtown from 4:30-6:30 for happy hour.  Great view, and each item is $2-$6.

DH and I have "cheap date nights" all the time. We love them! Our mission to look at things we normally wouldn't, go places we normally wouldn't and always get dessert. We then go get a movie and rent it and talk about our "cheap date night." It's nothing fancy but we can have a date for under $25.

We go to happy hour a lot. We like Bridgeport, Laurelwood pizza and pokpok recently.?

Go see a movie at the McMenamins Kennedy School, Mission Theater or Bagdad Theater. Movies are only $3 and you can get pretty cheap pizza and beer there too, which you can consume while watching the movie.

I have to agree with the above movie theater rec's, the Kennedy School is great. 

To add to Esther's post, there's also the Laurelhurst Theater, DH and I go there all the time.  For under $20, you get 2 movie tickets, 2 pieces of pizza, and a pitcher of beer.  They play movies right before they come out on DVD, so it's great to see the "blockbusters" like Batman, etc, without the huge crowds of people.

Also Stanfords and Newport Seafood Grill do a cheap happy hour, that is an easy date night with DH.

check out the portlandbio (link on my bio/blog) for tons of cheap & free ideas. Some are summer only like concerts & ballet in the park but there are plenty of ideas for winter too. Be a tourist!

I agree with the McMenamins movies idea. You should also check out McMenamins Edgefield. You can always grab a pretty cheap dinner and a good pint, or on a nice day, play some golf. It's easy to spend hours there, between the wine room, smoke room, outdoor gardens, spa, restaurant, pub, there's plenty to explore!
