Your husband works with the AU football team right? Do the players get to go home any for Thanksgiving? I figured with an off week this upcoming weekend they might get a day or two in there but I also know they are working hard towards the Iron Bowl.
I saw your post in my below post about being glad AU doesn't have to play Florida and I agree I just feel so bad for the team but I tell you I saw heart on Saturday..even though we got beat I really saw that they aren't giving up and I know they will fight hard against Bama. I'm thinking my MIL is planning on buying me and Wes season tickets for next year so I am pretty excited We usually get down to 2 or 3 games per year but it'll be nice to have the option to go to any we want
Re: Katie
He works in media relations for athletics and his main sport is football and the other is track/field. So his only down time is July!!! ha.
Nope, they are practicing on Thanksgiving day itself. With the Iron bowl now the week of T'giving things are totally different. Tubs fought not to have it T'giving weekend but Bama wanted it back to the popular rivalry wknd like other rivalries have theirs. My mom is used to it as FSU (where she went) and UF play the same wknd. It's harder when we play AT Bama b/c then we can't go anywhere and are by ourselves. We don't know what we are doing yet.
The athletics dept takes care of the players w/a meal that day and Brad indicated that the media dept may do something but it won't be the same as being w/your family.
Yes, I REALLY wanted and thought they were going to win Sat. I am hoping/thinking they may fight hard for the Iron bowl but they may have to give it every ounce they have. I want us to go to a bowl game - but in that scenario if we do win and go to a bowl, I have no Christmas either. I'm ok w/it though as we'll go to my parents after the bowl.
You'll love having tickets. I'm going to keep mine even if we go somewhere else!!!
Well I am glad to hear that the boys are taken care of! I'm sorry that it messes up ya'll getting to be with family though
You know the way I look at it I know those boys are going to give it their all! They want to win, they have the desire to win, and even though it won't salvage the season if they win it will at least be a moral booster
I read that some of the recruits were down there Saturday and after seeing the atmosphere they are firm in their comittments....I was glad to hear that! My BIL said the atmosphere was awesome Saturday...he had an extra ticket that he offered to me and I wanted to go so bad but I was throwing my cousin a lingerie shower that day so I couldn't
yeah my family understands, and I married into this so I knew what I was getting into!!! ha.
OMG the team and coaches were SO into it. I saw a coach on Fri afternoon and talked to him for a while (I knew him prior to meeting Brad) and he said Tubs isn't in jeapordy, their jobs are. But the team was excited and pumped. I really thought they were going to win it and they were TOTALLY into it, getting the crowd pumped and everything. Even Tubs got SUPER fired up with that bad penalty call (which is what I really think cost us the game, that and the missed FG).
I hope the team does the same for the Iron Bowl. Everytime I have gone there, we have won so I HAVE to go!!!! ha. I don't keep up w/the comittments and neither does Brad b/c he doesn't deal w/them until they are actual players - ha.
oh and I hope the shower went well!!!!
We are having an Iron Bowl party with some people Wes works with...lol unfortunately me, Wes, and one of his co-workers wives are going to be the only one's rooting for Auburn. I made Wes promise me that no matter what (whether we get season tickets or not) that we would have tickets to next years Iron Bowl...it's been a dream of mine to go since I was little! It's actually a dream of mine to visit every SEC stadium...lol yeah I am wierd ..I have been to two (Jordan Hare and Bryant Denney) and next year I'll get to go to Neyland (we are planning to go to AU/TN next year since Wes is technically a TN fan).
Yeah the shower went well...but I can say that I'll be glad when the wedding is over in a few weeks. And go figure the wedding is on Dec 6th...yeah the SEC championship game day. I told her she better be having some tv's at the reception lol.
well AU is going to need all the cheers, fans and support it can get!!! But I'm sure yall will have fun.
I've been to a many SEC stadiums and you can mark them off on FB - as they have a place for that!!! I've been to AU, Bama, UF, Vandy, SC, UGA, MSU, Ole Miss, LSU, hmmm, I can't think of others!?!!
Well, you will have to be a Gator for the 6th!!!! And I'm sure you'll be glad when that wedding is over. I remember the fiasco w/the dress!!!
