What is your budget for Christmas? And how many

Re: What is your budget for Christmas? And how many

  • DH and I don't exchange Christmas gifts. We only do stockings and try to limit it to around $30. We pull names for my side of the family, so there's a chance we could pull each other's name anyway. For my immediate family, we do Secret Santa with $100 limit. For his side of the family, we have to buy for about 12 people. A couple of years ago, I tried to suggest drawing names instead of buying for 12 people, and they were offended that I would suggest such a thing (that's another topic that I won't even get into! ha). So for that side, we try to limit it to around $30 a person although we might go a little cheaper this year since there's a baby on the way. Then we just have one cousin of mine that we buy for and we normally spend around $40 on him.
  • Parents  Wink  DS, and Aussie.  About $75 per person, this year we'll end up only spending about $50 on DS.
  • I have 22 people on my Christmas list. I've bought gifts for 16 of them spending less than $200 total so far. It helps that we have to buy for a lot of little girls and on vacation we found Hannah Montana t-shirts 3 for $10 and Claire's has 50% off all HM and High School Musical stuff!

  • There are 5 to buy for in my family and just my MIL and FIL in DH's family, plus DH. DH and I don't exchange gifts anymore, and I talked to my family yesterday and decided to just do Christmas stockings with them. The rest of the money will be used to adopt a family for Christmas and purchase their gifts. My youngest sib is 22, so we all buy what we want for ourselves anyway. We usually spend about $100-1500 total on my in laws, and will still buy things for them.

Cute idea I heard from a friend - her mom loves to throw dinner parties but is a terrible cook, and Dana is a great cook, so she's giving her a dinner party in her house for the holidays. I thought it was really cute.
