Dh and I are having an Iron Bowl party and I need menu ideas. I was going to do a big pot of chili, yet I think that will be really hard to handle w/o enough table room for everyone, so I think we're going to stick too finger foods. Now what kinds of foods should I make????
Re: Football Party Food
Chicken wings would be good! I've never made them, so I'm not sure how much trouble they would be. You could serve them with carrots or celery and blue cheese and ranch.
Maybe rotel dip, spinach and artichoke dip??
Here is my recipe! They turned out great!
Baked Potatoe Skins
INGREDIENTS
Cut potatoes in half lengthwise; scoop out pulp, leaving a 1/4-in. shell (save pulp for another use). Place potatoes skins on a greased baking sheet. Combine oil, Parmesan cheese, salt, garlic powder, paprika and pepper; brush over both sides of skins. Bake at 475 degrees F for 7 minutes; turn. Bake until crisp, about 7 minutes more. Sprinkle bacon and cheddar cheese inside skins. Bake 2 minutes longer or until the cheese is melted. Top with sour cream and onions. Serve immediately.
I think a spread of finger foods would be a great idea. You could do sandwhiches, chicken fingers, wings, pizza, chips and dip.
I always do pigs in a blanket, spinach dip, and homemade chicken wings. I went to a party one time where the did mini cheeseburgers (krystal sized) and then had a condiment station. That was yummy!
one of my favorite dips (that everyone raves about)
Corn Dip
2 cans mexicorn
1 cup each of mayo and sour cream
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar
1 can each chopped green chiles and chopped jalapenos
3 green onions - sliced
mix all together - serve with Fritos Scoops!
RPattz with a side of crackers?
on a more serious note..taquitos are easy to eat or like pp said chicken fingers, pizza, chips/rotel dip. you could even try those yummy looking cheesecake pops that celeste has in her food blog and dip them in au/al colors
Blog!
Those are all awesome ideas. Sarah, that corn dip looks fantastic and lil Avery is soooo cute!!
Yep a cracker with some RP spread all over it would be awesome!!
Sarah's corn dip is awesome and I've taken it to my tailgate before.
Do you have the redneck caviar recipe?!!?! It's a bean dip that's great.
You'll need fritos for both those dips.
- Have some veggies w/a ranch or blue cheese dip and fruit w/a yummy yogurt or even caramel dip.
- Something easy would be chicken nugget or finger tray.
- Sarah also has a great elcair cake recipe but if you want to do easier to serve you could do brownies and cookies.
- I also have a banana pudding recipe at home (somewhere).
you know I have tons of tailgate recipes that are easy for home parties too!!!
- also pigs in a blanket and rotel is AWESOME - you could do a huge thing of rotel/cheese dip in the crock pot and add some beef or chicken to it. SO yummy!!!!
He does look mighty tasty! It's hard to believe just a few years ago he was Cedric Diggory...my how he has grown, lol!

I'm making these for my party Sunday night...they look AMAZING!

the bacon wrapped jalapenos look really good!
Monica - i'm sure you know this but whatever you do, do NOT scrape the seeds/membrane with your thumb...you will regret it if you do! (speaking from experience)
Those look delicious!!!!
Yes! That's a wonderful idea about those cheesecake pops...I can see them now...crimson/white and orange/blue....How stinkin' cute! You could even tie coordinating ribbons around the lollipop sticks.
