Restaurants in Chicago - (hidden gems?)

Hi!

I'm coming in from NJ to Chicago this week and was hoping to find some great (reasonable) food. We'll be around the Navy Pier and McCormick Place Convention Centers, but are willing to take a cab ride (nothing too far) for the right place.

I would love a recommendation or 2!

Thank you,
Amy

Re: Restaurants in Chicago - (hidden gems?)

  • I can't think of anything reasonable around that area, I'm sure there are some but I don't know that particular area that well. ?My favorite "local" place is Pequods, if you like pan pizza. ?It's on North & Clybourn and is awesome. ?It's a bit of a cab ride, but shouldn't be too bad from that area.
  • Oooh!  My personal favorite in the area is a place called Quartino (on State and Ontario).  It's Italian food served in small portions (think tapas style) so you and your group can order a bunch of small plates to share.  They also sell wine by the liter (you can get 1/4, 1/2, or full), so you can order just enough depending on how many are in your group and what kind of mood you're in.

The prices are pretty reasonable, and you can get there pretty quickly in a cab.  If you end up going, let me know what you think!!

  • Bin 36 isn't too far from where you are!

  • RJ Grunts in the Lincoln Park area is great!
