I think I'm gonna go for the Moby.

Now that Allison is older and LONGER(lol) the Ring sling just isn't cutting it. So much for that $50! I've always liked the soft look of the moby and it seems fairly easy to use. I've read pretty good things about it too. I know the ergo is supposed to be GREAT, but I really don't want to spend $100+ on one, especially if A may not like it(She hates being strapped into anything!) So it's off to the moby. lol. Plus, she may start walking any day now(well...maybe in a month or 2). She'll take a few steps if we walk with her, holding her hands. She hates sitting still for too long.

Anyone have experience to share on the Moby Wrap? (heading off to read Wannabe's blog)

Re: I think I'm gonna go for the Moby.

  • Honestly, I hated the one I had and never used it. Too much material, not sturdy enough for squirmy bigger kids and did I mention all that fabric?

The Ergo or Bjorn costs a little bit more but you will use it far longer. Even if your sweetie  can walk, you'll need it for a while.

  • I borrowed a Moby from a friend and tried it out or a couple of days and we hated it. It was uncomfortable and didn't seem to sit right no matter how we adjusted it. I swear by my Ergo though. It took me a long time to decide to cough up $100 for it, but now my only regret is that I didn't buy it 3 years ago and use with Rhian. We took the Ergo to Disneyland a couple of months ago and I actually was able to carry Rhian in it when she got too tired to walk.
  • Sorry, but I am an Ergo fan! I have not tried the Moby, but I LOVE the Ergo and so does Audrey. I like that she can fall asleep in it and it is so comfortable, even now and Audrey is 23 lbs. Seriously the one of the best baby items I got, and worth the money IMO. Sometimes you can find used ones on Craigslist or ebay for cheaper.
  • I love the lucky-baby sling, which also looks like many of the other fabric slings on the market. I can put Ella on my hip or against my chest. I love that I can still tuck her shoulders in if she's on my chest and also cover her head. I believe there are a few ladies on etsy or ebay who make a comparable fabric sling for $30.00. I have a pattern to make your own if you are interested.
  • I obviously don't have experience with any of these yet as my girl is too small still.  But I know Wan-Nabe had a review of a bunch of carriers on her blog.  She loves baby carriers.
  • I was given a Moby and it was too hard to figure it out for me. I also had a bjorn and never used it. I guess I did not really use any carriers for her....sorry, I am no help I guess!
  • did you happen to find the post with my carrier reviews?

the moby is fabulous, but i don't know if i'd recommend it for older babies. ?it's not as complicated as it looks, i promise, but i think that as the baby gets longer and heavier, the stretchiness of it may not be to your advantage.

my favorite really is the ergo - although having bought mine from a fellow nestie for half price helped. ?but as much as we use it (even the hub is willing to carry her around in it), i would gladly have paid full price for it. ?it really is worth the money. ?

there are stores that carry it locally - you might visit one and try it on to see how you like it.?

  • I'm also a big fan of the Ergo - worth every single penny I paid for it.  And, it's awesome as they grow bigger, Gavin is still in it at 19-months.  He even falls asleep in it.  I use it on my back if I have someone to help me and on the front if I'm alone.  I really can't say enough about the Ergo...it's the greatest.
  • Make your own if you want to try it out first. I love mine, once you get the baby in. It is a big cumbersome to get on at first but you get used to it. If you want to make your own go to the fabric store and pick out a stretchy fabric. I got a ribbed knit and buy 5 yards. Then you cut it lengthwise in 2 and you have 2 wraps.
