I keep up a lot with football...especially SEC football. It seems to me that they are looking over the Iron Bowl as an easy win for Bama and on to the SEC championship game. I'm not just saying this because I am an Auburn fan, but seriously every year I think both teams bring their A game and what has happened through out the year is usually thrown out the door and it's a whole new ballgame.
And I'm sure ya'll all know of Paul Finebaum right? Isn't he supposed to be an impartial analyst? I'm thinking that this TN graduate bleeds Crimson and White.
All in all it's a great instate rivalry and we all support our teams 100%. This simply has just been an observation on my part.
Re: Not trying to start an AU/AL debate, just an observation
Actually I think that Alabama has gotten very lucky this year and although they are 10-0, they have not played well 100% of the time (Tulane, Miss state).
With the pressure of the rivalry, Auburn has a good chance of winning I think
Another teacher at my school says that she thinks Alabama has everything to lose while Auburn has everything to gain.
I can see her point. Alabama has a lot riding on this game and Auburn has the chance to stomp it all out.
all i'm going to say is no matter how horrible or good each team's season is it doesn't matter when it comes to the iron bowl..each team puts a LOT of heart into the game
oh and War Damn Eagle!
Blog!
Paul is a UT graduate but he is a Bama fan. The show is basically for Bama fans but he gets all fans to call in about whatever topic that day. I am a huge Bama fan, I have been all my life. At the beginning of the season I wasn't really sure how we would do and I was amazed to see us beat Clemson. DH and I were at the Tulane game and well it sucked. Bama has over came a lot this year and we have to give them credit. Saban always talks about keeping the focus on the current week. I think that is what they have done. If you would have said Bama would be 11-0 right now at the beginning of the season I would have laughed. I didn't expect some of our wins. Ok most of our wins but we have somehow managed to be this team that no one said we would be.
I agree with previous posts when it comes to the Iron Bowl the records are thrown out the window. It's anyones game. Both teams are getting better and better and I am sure Saban and Turberville are working extra hard to prepair both teams for next week. I would love to see Bama go into the SEC Championship game undefeated. This has been a wild journey considering Auburn was supposed to win the West. I feel strongly about my ALABAMA football. No doubt about it there will be a fight to the finish.
ROLL TIDE ROLL!
My FI told me that no matter who is having a winning or losing season, the Iron Bowl is always a weird game that never falls in line with expectations, and that wild things will usually happen.
Thus, War Damn Eagle!!!!
After watching Auburn last week, I think they have a good shot. I just hope Alabama doesn't get too cocky and blow it.
Roll Tide
I'm sure Coach Saban has the team focused on the next game...not the SEC Championship or anything after that. Now, the fans...he can't do anything about them. ROLL TIDE!
I think with AU's defense we have a shot. I know every year, despite how other games have turned out...both teams come out holding nothing back! I heard ESPN say at the beginning of the season that AL would have a major upset either at the beginning of the season or at the end...so I'm hoping Auburn will be it, hehe
My biggest complaint is that most everyone in the national sports media is backing AL like it's nobody's business. Where was this support when AU was undefeated in 2004 and got the shaft in the BCS?? Sorry to bring that up, but I'm still licking my wounds, lol.
I totally disagree with that. Most people are saying Alabama is #1 based solely on the fact that we are undefeated. They are not being shy about saying that they think most of the one loss teams are better than us. And every major sports publication has UF in the national championship. So I think they are backhand complimenting us, but they really don't think we're good.
And it REALLY sucked for AU in 2004. It was totally unfair. Especially since in the years since then, a 1 or 2 loss SEC team has been in it several times and won.
I think Lindsay is just saying that if they (Bama) go undefeated and go to the NC game then it will be a hard pill to swallow as AU fans/alum since we were shafted in 04 with the same record. We didn't lose a game in 04 and were undefeated (and SECC champs) and should have been in the BCS NC game. Esp since the SEC is such a hard conference.
Now, I think UF is tough and UA has that challenge ahead of them after us.
I can't get to sports sites here at work, so I have no idea who's for what. I just know that I enjoy the Iron bowl every year win or lose. I'm not a sore loser and support my team regardless. My life's happiness doesn't depend on the success of my team. Sure we all love to win, but then again as we all know there's next year. We've all been there and we forget that these are just college kids trying to do their best.
I believe in Auburn and love it.........
WAR EAGLE!!!
I completely agree.
Couldn't have said it better Katie! Totally agree!
WAR EAGLE!!
Lest we forget - there were multiple unbeaten teams in 2004, not just Auburn. In fact, there are multiple unbeaten teams right now (including two of the same teams besides Auburn that were undefeated in 04!) There really is not always a solution that will please everyone. But I guess that's what we're not debating here
Ditto Wiley about Saban - he is definitely focused on each individual game! ROLL TIDE!!!
I haven't met a Bama fan yet that says "oh yeah, we're going to beat the hell out of Auburn." If someone is saying that, I need to go slap the hell out of them, LOL. We know better. Either team could lose every game up until this one, and beat the other, that's just how it goes. As big of a UA fan as I am, I'd never think that there's no chance for Auburn to beat us, any year. That's just insane, LOL.
I'm late on this..but I really think it's anyone's game. Auburn hasn't had a great season, Alabama is undefeated but has not been playing like they were in the beginning of the season the last few games. I agreee...you never know what's going to happen at this game...as pc as I try to be about the rivalry....
WAR DAMN EAGLE!
