It's Wednesday, and you know what that means! Check in and let us know how you are doing on the PCP/TTC/pregnant/already-have-your-beautiful-kids front.
QOTD: Regarding division of labor in your household, will you/did you shift some of your usual household duties to your partner when one of you are/were pregnant? Which ones?

Re: PCP/TTC Wednesday
Our kids are good. Still going through the "trying 2s" - but I guess we have at least another 6 months of that! And I hear 3 can be a big challenge. Oh, joy! They are hysterical learning and singing Christmas carols. I can't tell you how many times we have sung Jingle Bells.
Regarding household chores -
Um...like 90% of them.
I was so tired the first trimester, I got morning and evening sickness my second, and was HUGE my third. I was pretty useless. I tried to pitch in where I could, but the bulk of it fell to L.
Things that I didn't do while pregnant:
change cat litter (this is a big one due to Toxoplasmosis), clean out the garage, paint, laundry (I don't do this normally, but we have to carry our laundry up/down 2 flights of stairs), and do yard work.
Things I did do:
Load/unload dishwasher, dust, clean bathrooms (well, everything but the tub/shower as it was hard to reach), and occasionally vacuum (but L did the bulk of it.)
I think it is hard to predict how/what will shift - you never know how you'll feel (or how many babies you'll have!)
we're not pregnant. that's my news. so we start again.
i'm not sure if we'll do anything differently in terms of chores. generally she mows the lawn, although we're beyond that point here. we may need one or two more times to mulch leaves, but that's about it for this year. we both do dishes and our own laundry, i wash the sheets and towels. we just do things when they need to be done. oh, i'm doing the litter boxes all the time. does that count? although maybe she should do it this week...
i would like to set up a cleaning schedule for myself and have made a half-hearted attempt. with all the work being done on the master bath and tearing out the dining room flooring, and homework on top of everything, at this point i'm just glad if anything gets done.
Random question - does anyone know if sperm is an approved use of FSA funds? I'm trying to decide how much to set aside in my FSA for the 2009 calendar year. It says that "Infertility Services" are approved but I'm not sure if sperm would be considered part of that. If so, I think I'll set aside some extra money so we can get our swimmer tax free! ;-)
Apparently the daycare here at work has a long wait list. I'm tempted to find out just how long and then get my name on the list...but that might be a bit overboard just yet.
No other TTC news. And I don't think our household chores will change much. Actually unless I have extreme morning sickness I don't think K will let them change much ;-)
We are going to try to insem next week. It al really depends on when I o though. I got a postitive opk on day 19 last month and we insem. on day 20. This month day 19 falls on the day before thanksgiving and we will be in VT on thanksgiving. I am hoping that I get a pos. on either tuesday or on thursday. that way we could still insem. If not we will wait until next month. Which will make me need to insem around christmas. Oh joy!
Sorry to hear your news blue.
As for chores we divide them equally though I cook and shop more since I get home most nights before S. I guess we will just see how I am feeling. S usually does the cat box so that wouldn't change. I guess like my uncle always says "Hard saying, not knowing". ( imagine a vt accent when reading)
T and I have actually started communicating again on when we will start TTC. I'm thinking it will be early spring, but maybe sooner!
We already have 3 kids and they are at a great age for doing chores (especially as much as they seem to screw up lately, and chorse make a much better punishment then grounding them) Watch out for ages 10 and 11 ladies they are a rough go!
T and I have the division of duties pretty equally, we help eachother out and dont really have any duties set in stone. When she has an MS flare up (btw shes been doing so incredibly well lately!) i pick up the slack, and I would assume she would do the same for me.
Good luck next week Sam!
No big news on the PCP/TTC front. On the already-here kids front, we found out last week that Sylvia's daughter got married (JOP) without telling anyone. AND she's not sure she really wants to be married and is already talking divorce. Sylvia is (understandably, I think) upset (though supportive), but what can you do? She's of legal age (though still in her teens). Just a heavy reminder to both of us that you do the best you can to raise your kids, but ultimately they grow into autonomous beings who make their own decisions (good and bad). We'll see where the next few months take us...
QOTD: Well, I have to confess I sometimes feel like I do very little around the house. I do the lawn, yard work, and bills, but S does all the cooking, laundry, dishes, and trash. I'm not sure how things will shift, but at some point lawn mowing will probably be turned over to a neighborhood kid. The tasks we split now, like cleaning, might shift a bit more towards S, but only because I don't want to be inhaling crazy chemicals while I'm pregnant.
FSA funds: Your plan might have a list available (e.g. federal employees have an "eligible expenses" page: https://www.fsafeds.com/fsafeds/eligibleexpenses.asp). Ours doesn't list sperm as an eligible expense, but I am going to call to check because I have about $3k of my FSA for 2008 unspent (I'd poured money into it because we expected to start ttc in '08, and have used very little). I'm hoping to be able to use the remaining funds somehow, possibly to buy swimmers for next year *crosses fingers*.

Were still waiting for a positive OPK. It is driving me a little crazy. No other news. As far as chores I do most anyway (which I don't mind) because I know how I like things but while I'm preggo I'm putting it all on my wifey.
Not too much to report here at the moment. Not completely sure if I ovulated yet... but I think I did yesterday (I don't temp, so...). This month has been stressful and I'm not surprised that I seemed to have ovulated later then normal. We'll see what happens.
QOTD: I must also confess that Trav does a lot more around the house then I do. I'm trying to be better about pulling my weight, but he is just better/more prone to spontaniously doing housework/chores. So hopefully nothing more will shift to him when I do get pregnant, hopefully I can keep doing at least what I am doing now... but I guess it will all just depend on how I end up feeling.
Maybe I don't have a heightened sense of smell, but I've never smelled any vagina on my pants. -- TSD

good luck everyone who is waiting.
that's exciting Flex $ can go to sperm....hmmm...
I have a feeling I'd end up with almost everyhting when C is pregnant. I do 75% of the inside stuff, and she does 90% outside, but I can't see making her mow the lawn at 8 mo...haha...
No updates for us, but I really like this idea of C doing more chores while I'm pregnant....

I have had 2 ultrasounds in the past week and a half and everything is looking good for my little bugger.
Carol has picked up almost all the chores around the house since I got pregnant. I have just been too tired. I do still do some laundry and loading and unloading the dishwasher , but that is about it. And my OB told her at our first appointment that all cat care was up to her. dont miss that job!!
Good luck to all who are trying soon.
