Finding decent clubs proving to be difficult....

So Sandy and I will be living in Tampa for a few months due to my work. I have been researching online gay clubs so I could maybe find a place or two that would be relaxing to hang out in or maybe do a little dancing sometimes. However, I am finding it difficult to get good detailed information, including reviews, on most places listed on various "gay club" type sites. 

 Any ideas of good websites for researching gay clubs or even gay friendly establishments?

 I lived in Tampa about 10 years ago and really liked a place called the Cherokee Club. I don't see it listed on there, so I don't know if it is still around - but it was the most beautiful bar I've seen (in an old historic building.) It was in Ybor City. Here is the address 1320 E. 9th Ave - they are only open Sat.

Suncoast in St. Pete is fun.  It is a resort (not a swanky lush resort - but more of a Holiday Inn that is all gay!)  They have a lot of different types of bars (dance, leather, piano,etc), tea dances on Sunday. It is a lot of fun.

Thanks for the info! Ever hear of a place called Georgie's Alibi in St. Pete? There are really good reviews of it and the pics I found look like it could be fun. I guess we'll just have to get out there and explore a bit.

No, I've never heard of it - but keep in mind it has been 10 years since I have been there!  Yes, I have found that just exploring is the way!

Hi, I currently live in Tampa unfortunately both of the places 2brides mentioned no longer exist (cherokee club closed about 5 yrs ago and the suncoast resort is now a home depot). Georgie's alibi is pretty nice from what i've heard, haven't been there yet.  that's in st. pete.  GBar in Ybor City is nice, i think friday nights are lesbian nights. there is also another gay/lesbian club called Flirt (also in Ybor) and Honey Pot (Ybor). so if you go to Ybor, there are 3 gay clubs in that area within walking distance of each other.  if you get there early enough, you could try all three! hth
