customer service

I just called a store to ask about an item that I had seen online and the girl's response was " I am busy right now, can you call back in 15 minutes?"

Re: customer service

  • How did you respond to that?  I would have been sooo angry!

  • I would have said sure I'll call back...to speak to your manager.
  • Oh, as soon as I hung up, I went to their website and sent an email to customer service.

  • yikes. how rude. what store??

Amy and I are WAY too much alike, BUT being that I have worked retail and part of my job is CS, I would have said, no, I would rather speak to your manager now, thanks - that way you can have your 15 min whatever way you need it.  HA!!

    yeah, what store was it!?!?!?

  • I worked retail in college and if we were busy we just didn't answer the phone. It's better than leaving someone on hold for forever.
  • Oh wow yeah that was rude!

    Anthropologie.

Brooke, I've gotten bad service there b/f in ATL and don't shop there much anymore (plus I can barely afford it!!!)

  • Well, here's another side to it. Having spent a LOT of time in customer service, I can tell you that most of the time the stores are pitifully understaffed...even at Christmas when you would think they would put on a full staff, often they don't. Where I work, even during holidays, there is sometimes only me. At times I have had lots of people standing in line wanting to be rung up or shown items...others at that same time standing in line wanting me to wrap something for them ALL of them are already impatient...and then the phone rings. People will get totally po'd if you take up a lot of time on the phone or worse, stop to go search for a product and leave them standing there. When it's completely impossible I ask that person for their name and number and I call them back once the chaos has lightened. Even if it's long distance I always call them back and apologize. On the other side of it, it irks me no end to call a store and have someone tell me they are with a customer...I AM A CUSTOMER TOO...there is no way to win this one. That's a big reason why I take names and numbers when it's completely crazy. At the VERY least, that girl should have offered to call you back.
