My boss is riduclous and has no manager skills at all. I have vented about her before and this time she took it a little tooo far!
The company does nothing for the holidays at all. So I have been planning little things with the company like potlucks and luncheons. For Halloween we did a potluck and to not pressure anyone or make them feel left out I posted the list in the breakroom for access for all departments (there are about 3). At the potluck we decided that we do a luncheon where we order from somewhere, so I put it together gave everyone two options and put the price. Yesterday I was tlk with the Boss (about work) and she told me that I had to ask permission to do activities within her department, because she is the boss and everything that goes on in her dept. she needs to approve. I then told her it was not just her dept, but all of the depts. She then said well then that is really not your job that is so and so job, she normally organized things. She also went on to say it was a respect thing and that she should be able to authorize it.
So I sent a mass email to the 20 something who already submitted the order and advised due to unauthorized permission to hold a lunchoen we would have to cancel!
We are on flex schedule and can take anywhere from a 30 to an hour lunch and when we clock out we are off the clock! She has a real power trip right now. This is just like saying I can't offer anyone when I order for delivery!
Re: My Turn to VENT!
HAHA..LOL TAILGATE....LOL! Just to add to the flame the other dept mngr (friends with mine) just invited everyone to brunch for thanksgiving! I guess mine is just not good enough.
I totally understand where you are coming from, but there is a lot of history behind why she is acting like this. Most of it has nothing to do with me and each week she just likes to pick on someone new. The Potluck that was organized prior nothing was ever said. I was not the one who organized it, everyone mentioned it one time while we were in the lunch room and I just posted the sign in paper.
UPDATE: we just found out it was one of the employees (who always likes to get ppl in trouble) who complained about the luncheon. The poster was not discluding anyone and if she signed up I would have ordered her food just like anyone elses!

Well as we all know people in charge love to be in charge, so you not asking her made her feel like you had no respect for her "In Chargeness".
She may have kown that the other supervisor was planning something and wanted yours to be cancelled so everyone would attend the surpivisor's pot luck.
