ok ladies, ive been in lower back pain since saturday. today is the worst though, to the point of barely being able to walk. from the symptoms i think its my sciatic nerve. ive never had this happen before but from what my coworkers say, i think it is. what should i do. i dont have a primary doctor and dont feel like going to one just to be told to rest and take advil. one of my coworkers swears by her chiropractor. ive heard horror stories. any one have any experience? thanks
Re: lower back pain
Working in healthcare I had pulled a few muscles in my back over the 5 years. In October of 07 I thought I had just pulled a muscle. It got worse and worse and not better over a 3 day period. I ended up with numbness down my leg the 4th day, and then decided it was time for a doctor visit. Turns out I herniated two disks in my lower back. I have never had a baby, but I would classify this as the worst pain I have ever been in. Scott had to get me dressed and help me to the bathroom... it was horrible. My injury also resulted in sciatic damage, and I myself would not classify that pain as lower back. The only way I can describe that is as though your butt is on fire, like shooting fire pain in your butt! Great fun let me tell you!
Have you been alternating ice and heat? If it is muscular, advil will help- but if it's not helping I would think something else is wrong. My suggestion is see the doctor, you have been in pain long enough... good luck and let us know what happens. Also, you could be seen at any walk in clinic, all the hospitals around the seacoast have walk in facilities affiliated with them. I can't remember where you live, but that is always an option.
Good luck and feel better, I know first hand back pain is not any fun!
