tell me about freezing bread??? .... MIA??

OK so you just freeze the bread? how do you thaw it? does it tast like its been frozen?  can you freeze sandwich bread??

Re: tell me about freezing bread??? .... MIA??

  • I freeze sandwich bread all the time. I keep it in the original package and wrap it in foil. To defrost I just remove the foil and leave it on the counter or zap it in the microwave for a few seconds. I've even toasted it from frozen. I don't think it changes the taste much at all.
  • Thanks Jenn!  I'm gonna try my frozen flour tortillas tonight or tomorrow.  GL Lorena!
  • DH freezes bread all the time and it does not change anything. I assumed the worse it was going to soggy and not taste like bread Confused In our house we have to because DH goes through bread like crazy. Mia tell me how your tortillas turn out..
  • I don't even wrap it in foil, just in the original packaging and then I put in the refrigerator the night before and it is ready for me in the morning.  I keep it in the frige because it last forever in there.
  • I freeze sandwich bread all the time.  I just stick it in the freezer in the original package.  I guess some girls wrap it in foil but I skip that part.  I take it out and defrost it on my counter top and it's ready to eat.  It doesn't taste any different than buying it straight from the store.
  • i freeze all bread and when its time to use i just let it sit out all day on the counter overnight.  if im making it for dinner like its a roll for garlic bread i wrap it in tin foil and put it in a 300 degree oven while i cook dinner.  then i take it out slice and doctor fo GB and then put it back under the broiler:)

Edit - the oven is for when i forget to take it out in advance.
