Help a Boston girl - Hartford Hotel recs?

I am buying my father tickets to see Jersey Boys in Hartford for his 60th birthday.  This musical has yet to come to Boston Sad and he is dying to see this show.  My brother and I are going to send my parents to Hartford to for the weekend.  Can anyone recommend a nice hotel and perhaps some dinner suggestions?  Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Help a Boston girl - Hartford Hotel recs?

  • Not too many hotels to choose from -- the Hilton, the Crowne Plaza & the Marriott (newest - about 2 yrs old).  All are pretty close to one another & the bushnell.

Restaurants -- max downtown is a classic chophouse style restaurant and my top pick. close second would be Peppercorn's Grill. Others to consider would be Hot Tomato's & Trumbull Kitchen.

BTW - we sent my parents to see Jersey Boys in NYC for Xmas last year and they raved.  good gift!!

  • There is also the Holiday Inn Express that was just renovated in 2005. Granite countertops, etc.  Also, the Homewood Suites is right next door to that, in the area with lots of restaurants.  The Marriot is a little further away, esp. for an out of towner.
  • The Goodwin Hotel is beautiful and Max Downtown is right across the street. The only bad news is that the Goodwin Hotel is closing at the end of the year. I don't know when the tickets are for.
