B'ham ladies...

We need a good dentist and a family doctor.  Do any of you have someone that you could recommend?

Re: B'ham ladies...

  • I like my dentist, Dr. Real in Bluff Park.  He's the dentist DH's family went to when they lived over here.

  • for a dentist i rec. Dr. Goodspeed in Homewood. he's super nice and his staff is wonderful. My mom has been going to him for years and i just started going to him...even though i live in AU..lol.
  • ack! saxgirl..i went to dr. real last time. we're less than a quarter of a mile from there

but honestly, i didn't like that place at all. they didn't use any kind of minty paste to clean my teeth..just the bare rotating scrubber to clean my teeth....and i'm 90% sure he didn't change gloves from the previous patient before coming to work on me (i didn't realize until afterwards). i had high hopes b/c it was so close to our house..but i'm def. looking elsewhere. oh, also..no tooth brush or floss at the end of my visit...disappointed in that! i haven't been to a general practioner here yet..so no recs there

    good luck!

  • I go to Thad Sullens at Cahaba Dental in Trussville, and I love their office.
There is never a wait time...the minute you come in is pretty much the minute they bring you back to start your cleaning. He is very gentle and tries to inflict the least amount of pain....which is a big plus.

I can refer you to him if you like....that is the other nice thing about their office, you get discounted services for referrals.

  • I used Dr. Boyd on Trussville Mountain Road when I lived there-  he is wonderful.  They assign you a hygenist so everytime you come in the same person works with you and I have never had to wait.

I still use Dr. Weldon at St. Vincents.  I cannot say enough wonderful things about him!!!  He is so thorough and really knows his stuff.

  • I love my dentist!  He is Dr. Michael Maniscalco at the Colonade.  When one of the news stations did Extreme Makeover he was the dentist. Let me know if you want additional information.  Also, I have started seeing a Dr. at Brookwood Primary Clinic (it's new) in Trace Crossing right by my office.  Everyone one there is very nice.  I can't remember her name right now (of course b/c you asked) but she even called to check on me after i had my surgery and was under the care of a specialist.  It thought that was very nice of her :)

  • I LOVE my dentist...he's a friend of the family, but he is wonderful.  He will not hurt you...his name is Dr. Darwin Echols.  His office is right off of Montclair Road in Crestline....right behind the Crestline post office.  I've actually got an appointment with him on Monday.  I can't recommend him highly enough...

  • Dr. Naftel STEWART is great she is in the Gardendale area. I worked for her dad for a few years before he retired! Super sweet, very gentle, and she's in her late 20's. Meaning she will not retire any time soon. Good Luck
