IUD Users, Question? Possible TMI....

So I have had my iud for a month, I got my regular cycle last month just after insertion. I cramped for a few days after, but other then that the last 3 weeks have been fine. Then this week came, I have had horrible cramping to the point where I was curled up in a ball in my bed and didn't want to move. The cramps have come and gone, but at times they have been pretty severe. I am due to get my period this week, so cramping is possible, but did this happen to anyone else? Did the cramps get better, or is this just how I will be with the iud? I know it can take up to 6 months for it to settle in, but how long did it take for you before it was "normal"?

Thanks so much for any advice! I really appreciate it!

  • Do you have Mirena or Paraguard? ?I have Mirena but I have never had cramping that badly. ?It probably wouldn't hurt to have it checked out if you are concerned.

  • I didn't have really *bad* cramping, but it could be your body adjusting to being off hormones. Have you checked the strings?
